I’ve worked as a historian for more than 25 years. My scholarly background is in nineteenth-century British and Australian political history, particularly Chartism and its influence in Australia; however, a significant part of my post-doctoral career has been in the heritage sector (primarily consultancy work for the New South Wales National Parks and Wildlife Service). I’ve also helped teach a range of History and related units at the University of New England. My Google Scholar profile contains a comprehensive list of publications and commissioned heritage projects.
This site is a portfolio of my more recent work in the emerging discipline of Digital History. The essays are scholarly in nature but differ from traditional historical research in a few ways. First, all articles are freely accessible. Second, most contain interactive content (particularly maps) as well as images, audio/video and other online material. Third, wherever possible references are directly linked to digitised archival sources. Finally, I welcome commentary and constructive criticism—please use the form below if you’d like to get in touch.
